Taking care of a turtle in Warren

Anonymous couple helps get the animal back to its proper environs

Town resident and reader Phyllis Poor sent in the following act of kindness she witnessed Monday afternoon, May 5, towards one of nature's most enduring creatures delivered by a local couple:

"Late this afternoon I was driving to Warren on Schoolhouse Rd.

"Near the new Community Garden I was forced to slam on the brakes to avoid a large turtle. Thinking I might still have my heavy winter gloves somewhere in my car I pulled over, looked, but no gloves.

"But the turtle was in luck because his saviors were about to arrive. The young couple pulled over, grabbed a small shovel and approached the turtle who would have nothing to do with their help! So finally they produced a milk crate and with the help of the shovel managed to corral him and walked him down the road and placed him at the reservoir,
mission accomplished.

"I don't know their names but I want to take this opportunity to thank them for stopping today."
