The Warren Arts and Cultural Commission (WACC) announces a “Call for Art” for a new revolving art exhibit in the Warren Town Hall. All Warren resident artists or those working in Warren studios are invited to apply.

The Warren Arts and Cultural Commission invites submissions of original two and three-dimensional fine art or crafts to be a part of the first exhibit. The selected pieces will be on display for 6 months, from March 17-September 1.

Materials may include paintings, drawings, prints, photography, sculpture, glass, paper, metal, wood, plastic, stone, ceramic, textiles, basketry, jewelry or any other suitable artistic material.

Each submission will be evaluated by WACC to ensure that it does not present a hazard to public safety, is politically neutral, and considered aesthetically appropriate for viewing by all age levels. The Town/ WACC shall oversee installation and reserves the right to select submissions. Artists must provide their own insurance. Publicity will be facilitated through digital and local print media and the Warren Arts and Cultural Commission’s webpage. A “People’s Choice” Award is planned for the conclusion of the display period.

Exhibition deadlines and schedules:

  • Submission deadline: February 28.
  • Artist notifications: by March 7.
  • Art Delivery and Installation date: March 14, from 1-2:30 p.m. (by WACC).
  • Pickup date: September 1, 1-4 p,m.

By establishing the new exhibit, WACC will give visibility to the exceptional artistic talent within our community, and express its commitment to supporting local artists, enhancing the Town’s public spaces, and celebrating the arts.

For specific submission information and to download an application, artists may visit the WACC website at https://www.townofwarren-ri.gov/town_government/boards_and_commissions/arts_and_culture_commission.php.

Applications should be emailed to WarrenArtsCC@gmail.com.  Artists may only submit one application.

The Warren Arts and Cultural Commission cultivates and supports Warren’s diverse artistic, cultural, and historic assets while expanding opportunities for public-facing art that reflects our unique environment and cultural heritage to ensure access to the arts by the wider community.
