For the third consecutive meeting of the Warren Planning Board, an anticipated discussion on the "Settlers Green" housing development has been postponed at the request of the applicant.
The topic was first supposed to be broached lately at both the board's November and December 2024 meetings. However, at the behest of the the owner/applicant, Last Ever Realty, LLC., a continuance was asked for and granted just prior to each.
The subject was expected to again be on the Planning Board's upcoming monthly forum on Monday, Jan. 27, but, it, too, won't be on the agenda.
Board Chairman Fred Massie was informed by other town officials Thursday afternoon, Jan. 23, Last Ever sought another delay, though with good reason.
Massie said a third-party engineering firm has been hired to perform a "peer review" of the Settlers Green proposal, which seeks to build 12 single-family homes, along with two, four-story apartment buildings with 54 units each on 16 acres near Frerichs Farm on Kinnicutt Avenue and the Warren Reservoir.
The continuance would take the topic to the board's scheduled February 24 meeting.
Massie said an outside peer review is "commonplace" for a proposal of the size and scope as is "Settlers Green." The chairman also said the town continues to be cautious as to follow proper protocols considering the matter has already been adjudicated.
"We anticipate the firm will be able to complete its work, well, we hope they will complete their work well in advance of our February meeting, allowing both the town and the applicant to review the findings," Massie added.
