Warren police: Several domestic violence arrests

A Water Street man reported being assaulted by a coworker the previous month.

Bruno Goncalves, 35, of Bristol, was picked up by Bristol police on Warren warrants for domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

Police pulled a driver over on Metacom Avenue shortly after receiving a complaint of erratic driving. Police informed the driver of the complaint.

Charles E. Palardy, 42, of 338 Child St., Apt. 3, faces multiple charges after police were called to a domestic disturbance in a Metacom Avenue parking lot just before 5 p.m. Though Mr. Palardy was not at the scene, officers spoke to the alleged victim and he was arrested about 40 minutes later. Mr. Palardy was charged with domestic assault by strangulation, domestic simple assault/battery, third or subsequent offense, and domestic disorderly conduct, third or subsequent offense. He was arraigned and taken to the ACI.

A Libby Lane resident called and complained about noise from a neighbor's apartment.

Multiple callers reported a disturbance between people in two cars that stopped in the middle of Miller Street at about 4:15 p.m. They had gone by the time police arrived six minutes later.

A woman from Long Wharf Drive asked that police disperse a juvenile who was circling her property on a bike, and had been harassing her son. Police looked for but could not locate the boy.

A caller from Child Street said two boys wearing gray hoodies were harassing passers-by at 5:40 p.m.

A caller from Market Street reported being assaulted.

Tuesday, March 30

Christian J. Fortune, 19, of Providence, was charged with driving without or on an expired license, first offense, after police pulled him over on Market Street at 2:06 a.m.

A woman found an ATM debit card and brought it in to the police station. Police contacted he owner, who picked it up later in the day.

Multiple callers complained about a man yelling at traffic on Child Street at 8:42 a.m.

Sheree A. Cathcart, 41, of Bristol, was charged with driving on a suspended, revoked or canceled license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled her over on Market Street at 10:38 a.m.

John D. Gardner, 54, of Fall River, was charged with driving on a suspended, revoked or canceled license, first offense, after police pulled him over on Child Street at 11:49 a.m.

A caller complained that a group of kids on Asylum Road might be smoking. Police checked; they were not.

Police stopped a driver on Market Street after a complaint that he was tailgating other cars and driving too fast.

Wednesday, March 31

Dennis J. Lamoureux, 39, of Woonsocket, was charged with violating a no contact order.

A Main Street resident complained about noise from construction in a room below his apartment.

An Ellis Avenue resident called with concerns about a raccoon that had treed itself near his home.

Police visited a Canario Drive home after the state DCYF received a tip that the mother of two children there was intoxicated. Police found no problem.

A Canario Drive woman reported her brother for allegedly assaulting her.

An officer was flagged down by a resident who found a cell phone; police contacted the owner, who came in to pick it up.

Thursday, April 1

Moesis J. Baez, 22, of Providence, was picked up on a warrant and charged with domestic assault/battery, first offense, and domestic disorderly conduct, first offense.

A trash barrel was reported stolen from an Overill Road home.

A Libby Lane caller reported being threatened.

A Crescent Street man complained that he bought an item online but never received it.

A Broad Street resident complained about a car circling the neighborhood.

A man driving on Main Street just before 11:30 p.m. complained that someone threw strawberries at his car.

Friday, April 2

Police were called to Arlington Avenue at 2:46 a.m. for reports of an argument.

A Martin Street woman complained that a young girl was outside her home, harassing her. The girl was gone upon police arrival, but the original caller called again about half an hour later to report that she was back. Police spoke to the girl, who agreed to leave the area.

Graham Taylor Garvie, 62, of 162 Market St., first floor, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, BAC .1 to .15, after police pulled him over at Child and Everett streets at 4:58 p.m.

A caller complained that residents on Union Street set a table with rotting food on it out on the sidewalk. Police spoke to the homeowner, advising her to take the table off the sidewalk and throw out the food.

A Metacom Avenue woman asked for extra patrols in light of an unknown man she'd seen walking the neighborhood. Police caught up with the man, who said he was walking home.

Saturday, April 3

Nicholas A. Griffin, 25, of Swansea, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Child Street, near Milwaukee Avenue, at 12:20 a.m.

Jermaine Raheen Brewster, 38, of Newport, was charged with violating a no contact order, third or subsequent offense, and domestic disorderly conduct, first offense, after a young girl called police to report that her mother had sent her text messages alerting her that she was being assaulted. Police checked records and went to a Child Street home to investigate. They found nothing amiss and all was quiet, but about 15 minutes later the alleged victim called them and whispered the previous address they'd visited; they responded there and arrested Mr. Brewster, who was arraigned and taken to the ACI.

Police received a call about a panhandler on Market Street just before 11 a.m.

A young girl reported being harassed by another juvenile on Kickemuit Road.

Manuel M. Rezendes Jr., 49, of Seekonk, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Main Street at 11:31 p.m.

Sunday, April 4

A caller complained about cars racing up and down Fifth Street at 8:11 a.m.

Police were called and asked to remove an unwanted, intoxicated man from a Metacom Avenue address.

Cyber-harassment was reported by a Brittney Lane resident.
