Elizabeth J. Brinkerhoff, Westport

She loved and was very active in Westport community

Elizabeth J. Brinkerhoff, of Westport, MA, passed away peacefully  on Jan. 8, 2022 after a short illness.  Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1943, daughter of Dorothy and Charles Brinkerhoff of Wyckoff, NJ. Elizabeth was the loving sister of Richard who resides in the Netherlands, cousin to Peter and Jeannine Brinkerhoff, and aunt, cousin and friend to many both near and far.  She was predeceased by her younger sister, Debra.

After graduating from George Washington University and starting off in the NYC Social Services Department,  Elizabeth’ s business career ascended into progressively senior level roles in Human Resources.  While obtaining her Master’s degree, Elizabeth worked at F. B. Hall &  Co., NY, followed by  Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in Chicago, while she resided in Barrington, Illinois for several years.

In her early retirement, Elizabeth found her  perfect community in Westport MA, a move that  brought her back closer to her East coast family. Elizabeth built her home in a community she dearly loved.  She actively volunteered with and advocated for many local organizations while making many cherished friends along the way.

Elizabeth’s joyful spirit and sparkling smile graced many Westport organizations and surrounding communities, namely the Westport Art Group, the Sakonnet Garden Club, the Westport United Methodist church, the Council on Aging, the Westport River Watershed Alliance , the Association for the Relief of Aged Women, and her latest passion, the Dharma Voyage Rowers organization where she and her boat  medaled  in a Gloucester crew race last September. She also loved yoga, aerobics, painting, choir, volunteering, shopping and making a difference where she could.  Elizabeth’s love of family, her caring nature, compassion, determination and generosity are incredible blessings we can all hold dear.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will take place this summer,  her favorite time of year.  Information of the service will be posted on the Westport Point UMC website at a later date…www.wppumc.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity aforementioned in Elizabeth’s name. She will, no doubt,  be missed by many.
