The weather cooperated and after skipping a year due to rain, dozens of holiday lovers flooded the Westport Land Conservation Trust’s Westport Woods property on Adamsville Road Sunday afternoon to light the town’s Christmas tree, and stock up on good cheer, fun and presents.
Members of the Tiverton Community Chorus sang carols as Santa and Mrs. Claus made the rounds. Fire fighters and police officers handed out presents and other goodies. And there was an ornament station, face painting and games. In all, some 250 guests, volunteers and assorted elves showed up for the annual tradition and what’s become the official kickoff to Westport’s holiday season.
