Wildcats crush Cathedral 3-0 in playoff opener

Westport hosts West Bridgewater on Friday at 5 p.m.

The Westport volleyball team crushed Cathedral 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-9) in a home playoff game on Wednesday night. The Wildcats move on to host West Bridgewater on Friday at 5 p.m., in the round of 32 in Division 5.

“I was very happy with the team’s play tonight,” said head coach Monique Jones. “The team started off strong and never looked back. It was a total team effort.” 

Kyleigh Finglas, Taylor Perry, Sarah Perry and Taliyah Raiche combined for 39 service points. Finglas a senior co-captain, bashed seven kills and four aces with eleven service points. Taylor Perry a senior co-captain, dished out 12 assists, smashed seven aces and a kill to go with 12 service points. Sarah Perry tallied three aces to go with eight service points and Raiche, a freshman, added an ace and eight service points. 

The Wildcats have three more matches to play to reach the round of 8.
