Another year, another state championship for the Barrington High School math team.

The Eagles, led by coach Bob Marley, recently won their 19th state title in the last 22 years, outscoring the second place team by more than 100 points.

Barrington’s A team of Jessica Liang, Mitchell Salomon, Hannah Bai, Kamran Pahlavi and Vignesh Peddi scored 70 points at the first meet, 76 at the second, 81 at the third, and 49 at the fourth, finishing with 276 total points.

Bishop Hendricken finished in second place with 167 points, while Cumberland High School was third at 156, East Greenwich was fourth at 153, and South Kingstown finished fifth with 140 points.

Barrington has compiled an impressive overall record of 332-20-3 during its 22-year dominance in the state’s high school math competition.

Individual members of the Barrington team received trophies for placing in the top 10 in the state. Eighth-grader Athena Gao had the highest score in the state and placed first with a score of 58 points. Kamran Pahlavi placed fourth overall and was the top sophomore in the state. Jessica Liang placed fifth and was the top senior in the state. Vignesh Peddi placed sixth, Yiming Xiong placed eighth, and Mitchell Salomon placed ninth in the state this year.

Twenty-three students participated on the Barrington High School math team this year. Coach Marley said that in addition to the A team members, a few of those 23 students deserve special recognition for making valuable contributions and showing dedication to the team: Jackson Kustell, Lucy Dreier, Dawen Cheng, Aiden Hurlock, Sean Fearon, Dahlia Pahlavi, Connor Marley, Vineet Abbenini, San Min Park, Michelle Xian, Luke Andsager, Zachary Weinstein, and Maddox Godwin.
