Clifton E. Barbour, 53

Clifton E. Barbour, Jr., 53, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on Oct. 14 at home. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline M. Barbour. 

Born in Providence, he was the son of Mary (Bragantin) Barbour and the late Clifton E. Barbour, Sr. He was the father of Brittany Barbour, Ashley Barbour, Joey Barbour, and Austin Barbour; step-father of Tiffany Lesjak and grandfather of Trinity Short, Kyleigh Short and Natalie Hernandez. He is also survived by his sisters, Dana Sheedy and her husband John of Warren, and Vicky Barbour of Bristol, as well as his nephews Michael and Aaron Sheedy. 

Clifton attended Bristol schools and was a self-employed carpenter for 15 years before retiring. 

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
