Genevieve (Barboza) Rodrigues, 91, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Rodrigues, to whom she was married for 57 years before his passing in 2002.
Born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Peter J. and Maria (Enos) Barboza, she was a lifelong resident of Bristol. Mrs. Rodrigues was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her 13 children, Genevieve and Lydia Rodrigues and Margaret Valerio, all of Bristol, Dolores Bailey and Mary Spence, both of Texas, Joanna Costa of California; Joseph M. Rodrigues, Jr. of Warren, Mariano Rodrigues and his wife Kathy of Riverside, John Rodrigues and his girlfriend Tracey Cooper of Swansea; Dorothea Andrade and her husband Richard of Bristol, Paul Rodrigues and his girlfriend Octavia Bernardo of Tiverton, Carol Rodrigues of Bristol, and Mark Rodrigues of Barrington; sister Ethel Marshall; brother Peter Barboza; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Zinni, Angelina Saucy, Elizabeth Carvara and Adeline Travers, and mother-in-law of the late William Valerio.
Her visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 23, 8:45 - 10:30 a.m. from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to RI Special Olympics (Bristol Baysiders), 370 George Washington Hwy, Smithfield, RI 02917, or RI School For The Deaf, 1 Corliss Park, Providence, RI 02908.
