The Bristol Police Department made three arrests prior to the parade kicking off on July Fourth.

Bristol PD make multiple arrests on morning of July Fourth

Monday, July 3

A dog on dog attack was reported on Metacom Avenue at 9:43 a.m.

Graffiti on a tent used for event space was reported on Thames Street at 9:48 a.m.

Two were transported to Miriam Hospital at 10:05 a.m. following a car accident on Hope Street.

A light post was reportedly damaged on Thames Street at 12:14 p.m.

A possibly sick fox was reported on Duffield Road at 1:38 p.m.

Damage to flower beds on St. Elizabeth Street was reported at 3:53 p.m.

A cell phone was reported to be stolen from the Rogers Free Library at 4:21 p.m.

A fight was dispersed from the area of Wood Street at 8:31 p.m.

A disgruntled employee who had been fired from a local establishment was dispersed after causing a disturbance near Thames and John Street at 8:59 p.m.

A bicycle ran into the back of a car on Wardwell Street at 9:27 p.m., causing minor damage but no injuries.

Juveniles were dispersed from the rear of Colt School at 10:45 p.m.

A large verbal argument involving around 10 people was handled by police on State Street at 11:56 p.m.

Tuesday, July 4

Gilmar D. Andrade, 44, of 7 Bray Lane, Bristol, was arrested following a fight on Wood Street at 12:03 a.m. He was charged with disorderly conduct and was later released.

George S. Almeida, 71, of 30 Cedar Dr., Bristol, was arrested following an incident on Cedar Drive at 12:04 a.m. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct, both first offenses). He was released later.

Anthony J. Walden, 29, no address, was arrested at the Seasons Market on Metacom Avenue at 9:26 a.m. He was charged with disorderly conduct and was released.

Juveniles were dispersed from the Colt Andrews School on Hope Street at 9:01 p.m.

Fireworks complaints were logged throughout the day and evening.

Wednesday, July 5

Vandalism was reported at the Thames Street public restroom at 8:31 a.m.

A person reportedly living in the woods along Hope Street was advised they had 24 hours to vacate at 12:56 p.m.

A Fed Ex driver reportedly took down power lines with their truck at 2:37 p.m. on Wendy Drive, causing a response by i3 Broadband.

A missing bracelet was reported stolen on Constitution Street at 3:36 p.m.

Police got a call for a turkey in the road on Metacom Avenue at 4:00 p.m. but it had moved on when they arrived.

The theft of signage was reported on Easterbrooks Avenue at 6:10 p.m.

Thursday, July 6

A granite bench was reported to be damaged on Wood Street at 8:28 a.m.

Bristol fire personnel extinguished a dumpster and a lawn mower that had caught on fire on Metacom Avenue at 9:26 a.m.

Joleen M. Froias, 54, of 49 Brayton Ave., Fall River, Mass., was arrested near Bay View and Thompson Avenues at 3:11 p.m. after their car struck a pole. They were charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown, first offense), and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, first offense.

Friday, July 7

A fight was reported on Tupelo Street at 4:40 p.m.

A squirt gun was misidentified as a real gun on the Town Common at 7:38 p.m., prompting someone to call the police out of concern.

Police spoke with Hope Street residents following a fireworks complaint at 9:09 p.m., informing them that fireworks time was over for the season.

Saturday, July 8

Julio DaSilva, 73, of 10 Marie Drive, Bristol, was arrested following a report for suspicious activity near Sherry Avenue and Lugent Lane at 1:29 a.m. He was charged with an active bench warrant from 2nd District Court, and was transported to the ACI.

Police were notified of a possible breaking and entering incident that occurred on Hope Street, where an entry door had been broken in, glass was observed to have been broken, and an office door was broken as well.

Police received multiple more fireworks complaints between 8:30 and 11:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 9

Fishermen were dispersed from underneath the bridge on Lower Ferry Road at 9:46 a.m.

A cat reportedly bit a visitor at the animal shelter at 1:34 p.m.

A caller reported a deer was stuck in the fence at Franklin Court Assisted Living at 1:35 p.m.

Police were informed that a woman was going table to table at a restaurant on Hope Street eating other peoples’ food at 5:11 p.m. She left the area prior to police arrival.
