To the editor:
A new proposal for 127 units has been forwarded by the developer. That is still too many. Remember that in 2008, 98 units were approved and even that was a stretch, granted only after much debate. And, the developer at that time did not have a problem making a profit at this lower number. The economic crash killed the project, not the number of units.
It is encouraging that some on the planning board seem to have drawn a line at 105 units. Even if this is an increase over the original 98, it could be a workable compromise, providing other concerns are dealt with, such as parking, traffic, and infrastructure. Robin Rug sits on a very valuable piece of waterfront. If this developer can’t make it work with 98-105 units, I am sure another will come along who can. I hope the planning board stands its ground.
