In response to Peter Hewett’s letter of March 25, “The 2nd amendment - a different perspective,” I offer the following for your consideration.
I am not a gun owner, but a Navy veteran (who only used the weapons I was issued) and former Naval War College staff member for eight and a half years. I find Mr. Hewett’s assessment that the “right to keep and bear arms that provides for every citizen’s right of self-defense is a God given right,” most interesting. But I suspect God himself would be surprised to find out that he came up with that right for mankind.
Perhaps that was the 11th Commandment that was left out in the final edit.
