Rep. June S. Speakman was formally sworn in to the House of Representatives on Wednesday, March 13, to represent District 68 in Warren and Bristol.

Representative-elect Speakman, a Democrat who was elected March 5 in a special election, is a professor who teaches American politics, state and local government and public policy at Roger Williams University. She served on the Planning Board in Warren, and was a member of the Barrington Town Council from 2002 to 2016, serving as president the final eight of those years.

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha administered the oath of office to Representative Speakman due to a planned absence by Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea.
