The Warren Town Beach has been re-opened to swimming after state officials ordered it closed Tuesday after testing showed elevated amounts of bacteria there.
The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended the beach’s closure Tuesday, July 25 and the state’s beach closure website lists it as closed as of that date. The state gave the beach an all clear Thursday afternoon, saying it was once again safe to swim there.
Specifically, monitors found concentrations of Enterocci bacteria in the water exceeding 60cfu (colony forming units) per 100 milliliters of water.
This was not the summer’s first closure in Warren. The town beach was ordered closed to swimming exactly one month earlier, on June 25, and was re-opened two days later.
