Boys Basketball: Mt. Hope outlasts Burrillville, 53-47

Posted

The Mt. Hope basketball team outlasted Burrillville, 53-47, in a Division III league game at home on Thursday night. Huskies senior center Marquis Jones-Murchison led Mt. Hope with 21 points and 10 rebounds. But it was a three pointer by forward Connor Padovich with under two minutes left that sank the Broncos.

The Broncos went into a full court press and scored six unanswered points off turnovers to come within one, 47-48, with two minutes to play. The Huskies inbounded the ball to guard Darius Costa. Costa dribbled up court and found Padovich who then launched a three pointer and hit all net, giving Mt. Hope a 51-47 lead. With the game in hand, the Huskies regained their aggressive defense and made their foul shots down the stretch to close out the game.

Costa scored 13 for Mt. Hope and Padovich scored 11.

The Huskies are 2-0 in Division III league play.

Up Next: Mt. Hope will play in the Barrington Boosters Holiday Tournament next week.
