Janice Mae (Schuster) Mello passed peacefully on 16 December 2016 at Coliseum Nursing Home in Hampton, Virginia. Born 7 October 1929 in West Warwick, RI. Preceded in death by her husband John Mello Sr., brother Byron Salisbury and son Robert Mello. She lived on Long Lane in Warren, RI where she raised five sons while holding down several jobs in Jewelry, Converse Shoe Factory and managing a farm. She was a CNA Nurse at Grace Barker Nursing Home.

Janice moved to Missouri in January 2000 to be near her son Wayne and his wife Rose Marie. Janice volunteered alongside of Rose supporting USAF Military Firefighters and their families at Whiteman AFB MO, Holloman AFB N.M. and J.B. Langley-Eustis in Virginia. Janice was known for her beautiful crochet work making everyone in the family, Afghans of their choice. Janice loved to travel and has been to the Philippines, Egypt, Athens and several Islands in Greece.

Survived by her sister Phyllis Schuster of Warren, RI; four sons … John Jr. (Colleen) of Spring Hill, Fl., Kevin (Celia) of Warren, RI, Richard (Paula) of Bristol RI and Wayne (Rose Marie) of Newport News, Va. and a daughter in law… Lou Ann Mello of Barrington RI. She had 13 grand-children and 3 great grand-children.

Janice fought a long battle with the Alzheimer’s disease which finally had taken her life. The family plans a graveside service at the cemetery near Colt’s State Park in Bristol RI sometime in the spring of 2017.

“Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive his brother…Peter had thought maybe seven times might be a fair limit. But, Jesus said, “Seventy Times Seven!” (Matthew 18 a 1-22).
