Warren police logs: Gorilla(?) in the streets

Monday, Oct. 17

A caller complained that multiple people were banging on her mother’s door on Bowen Street. It turned out to be National Grid employees attempting to get a car moved for work.

A Bridge Street resident reported an intoxicated man rummaging through the trash.

Kevin M. Oldham, 26, of Providence, was arrested on a Superior Court bench warrant, following a traffic stop on Child Street.

Police were called out to a neighbor dispute on Kickemuit Road.

Tuesday, Oct. 18

A man and woman were repotted yelling inside a home on Child Street.

Cody Landry, 25, of 72 Water St., was charged with domestic disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, after his grandmother reported that Mr. Landry was “hitting a vehicle with an object while her granddaughter is inside.”

A Martin Street resident told police that her car was taken without her consent.

Police checked out a disturbance between two women in a Market Street parking lot.

Police had a word with the parents of kids who were reported yelling at passing traffic on Child Street.

A Main Street resident told police that someone threw a bottle of alcohol out the window of a passing truck, striking his vehicle.

Items were peported stolen from a Main Street driveway.

A Market Street woman complained that her daughter was being assaulted by her boyfriend.

Wednesday, Oct. 19

A Laurel Lane woman called police to report a domestic situation with her intoxicated husband.

A caller flagged down an officer to report that someone in a gorilla suit was chasing cars near the intersection of Child Street and Metacom Avenue.

Dawn R. Allen, 50, of Swansea, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police said she attempted to drive the wrong way down a one-way street at Metacom Avenue and Child Street.

Police got a complaint that political signs were stolen from a front lawn on Main Street.

An argument between a man and woman was reported on Third Street.

Thursday, Oct. 20

A deer apparently escaped injury after a minor collision between it and a police cruiser on Barton Avenue.

A caller said his ex-girlfriend showed up at his girlfriend’s house, and was harassing him.

A Highview Avenue called police after a neighbor’s dog wandered onto his property.

A caller reported a man passed out in front of a Main Street business. The call came in at 11 a.m.

A Market Street woman told police that her ex-boyfriend left threatening messages on her phone and continually drives by her house, beeping.

Bruce L. MacDougall, 47, of Swansea, was picked up on a warrant for domestic disorderly conduct.

A Main Street resident complained of noisy leaf blowers and street sweepers.

Someone complained that a man with no shirt was singing along the side of Main Street. The call came in at 11:32 p.m.; police told the man, who was singing along to music from inside his home, to turn it down and head in for the night.

Friday, Oct. 21

A Water Street woman called police at 2:09 a.m. to report that a man was in her apartment. Police responded and found nobody there but her; the woman was intoxicated, police noted.

A Child Street woman complained to police that her computer had been hacked.

A caller reported receiving harassing text messages.

A caller from Fatima Drive found a dead rabbit that she said appeared to have been mutilated. Police reported that the damage appeared to be “animal vs. animal.”

An Ellis Avenue man reported being harassed by his ex-girlfriend.

Saturday, Oct. 22

Someone broke into a Metacom Avenue business, the owner reported.

A lawn on Schoolhouse Road sustained extensive tire damage. Police found vehicle parts at the scene.

Police got a complaint that a man was trying to move into an apartment without permission. Apparently he was trying to climb in through a window.

A caller from Haile Street told police that a raccoon was “walking strangely.”

A Warren Avenue resident called police after receiving harassing phone calls.

Police got  what was described as an “animal complaint,” in which a “skateboard (was) being pulled by (a) canine.”

Rafael Leal, 38, of Boston, Mass. was charged with third degree sexual assault. Warren police said they were contacted by authorities in Bristol and alerted that Mr. Leal might have engaged in a relationship with a minor. Because one of the alleged meetings between the two occurred in Warren, Warren police charged Mr. Leal.Vandalism was reported on Arlington Avenue.

Curtis Stebbins, 47, of 20 Union St., Rear, was charged with domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property and domestic disorderly conduct, after police got a call about an unwanted man in a Union Street home.

Sunday, Oct. 23

A catamaran broke loose from its mooring and beached itself on Beach Street. The harbormaster was notified.

The landlord at a Kickemuit Road home reported finding drug paraphernalia in the basement.

A neighbor dispute drew police to Federal Street just after 4 p.m.
