As a Warren small business owner of over 13 years, I have had the unique opportunity to see the success and struggle of so many, from long established merchants and restaurants to brand new start ups. My perspective comes from personal experience running a retail shop and working as the co-chair of our merchants association Discover Warren. As a community of consumers, we have the ability to strengthen our own economy by supporting all of our local businesses and merchants. The 1% meals tax from our restaurants has a great impact on the town budget. The jobs in services, manufacturing, retail and food industry based here in Warren are putting meals on tables and paying bills. Our business community gives back in many meaningful ways by supporting numerous non-profit causes, school programs and tourism.
Let’s keep our dollars here in Warren first, the East Bay second and RI always. Think twice before spending at the big box, corporate and national chains. We have it all here, from food to fashion, plumbers to electricians, arts, culture, recreation and our beautiful waterfront. I challenge you all to patronize a local business today!
