Joseph Robert Medeiros, 89, of Warren, passed away on Oct. 13, 2018, at Silver Creek Manor. He was the husband of Artemizia (Cordeiro) Medeiros.
Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gloria (Geyer) Medeiros. He was the father of Catherine Medeiros of Warren and the late Russell Medeiros; grandfather of Nicholas Sardinha and Rachael Sardinha; brother of John Medeiros and Henry Medeiros, both of Ocala, Fla., and Louise Serpa of South Attleboro, Mass.
Mr. Medeiros was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948. He was awarded the Silver Star and a Purple Heart for his courage during the Battle at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War. He was then employed as the General Carpentry Foreman for the Newport Naval Base for 32 years before retiring.
His funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m., from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial a 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m.
