Kenneth R. “Pop” “PopPop” O’Brien 76, of Warren passed away peacefully on Monday April 30, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 9, 1941 in Fall River Massachusetts, a son of the late John P. and Florence (Poissant) O’Brien.

He is survived by his brother Norman O’Brien of Greenville, RI. His former wife, Shirley and their two sons Kenneth O’Brien of Sarasota Florida and David O’Brien of Tiverton, RI. His grandchildren, David Arruda and Travis O’Brien and great grandchild David Michael Arruda. Also, survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin, the late Richard O’Brien and his brother the late John O’Brien.

Kenny made his home with Linda Kuehl, his loving companion and best friend of 19 years. He will be loved and missed by her and her children Jessica, Jaime, and Ryan Kuehl. Also, PopPop to Toni Cavalieri, Taylor and Leah Oliver, Richard Dias and great grandchild Maddox Barcelos.

A graduate of Warren High School, Kenny was a lifelong Warren resident. He also was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church.

Kenny had owned and operated O’Brien’s Automotive, and he was a mechanic at several other businesses in Warren. Kenny was an amazing old time mechanic, he could fix anything! Working on cars was a great passion of his. For the last 10 years, Kenny worked for the First Student Bus Company as a bus driver, aide, and yard man. Kenny always looked forward to seeing the children each day as he loved them and they loved him too!

Kenny had served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Warren Indian Band; he coached Little League, Babe Ruth, and Pop Warner Football.

Kenny enjoyed traveling to England and Puerto Rico. He loved his Harley Davidsons, boats, horses, fishing, golfing and spending time in the casino.

Kenny was a fun loving, vivacious witty man, who loved his family dearly and was loved and cherished in return. As an avid sports fan, one of his greatest pleasures was attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a great man full of compassion, love, and kindness. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday May 14, 2018 at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main Street, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
