To the editor:
This letter is in support of Dr. DiBiase. First, let me introduce myself. I am Joseph Ciullo, and I am retired after proudly serving 45 years as an educator. It all began in Bristol in 1963 then continued in Middletown and at Bishop Feehan High School. I do not have to emphasize to you how important it is to make connections to all students and give special care to those that need it. This 81-year-old has fought and continues to fight the good fight for education.
I have two grandsons, one a senior at URI and the other entering his junior year at MHHS, and have had many conversations with my older grandson and his friends about their education at MHHS. When I would ask about it, the answer was always favorable and a common comment was that ‘Dr. D gets it!’ Well, that is the key. Through many different scenarios, she has maintained her focus to step up to the plate and try to score a home run for the school. We all know how challenging it is to navigate through this crazy world of ours, and Dr. D does so effectively. What she develops are students committed to themselves— to be the best they can be. Therein lies the rub, she never quits trying.
With all the rough patches we have had with COVID, remote learning and the difficulty of hiring the next superintendent, we have been left wondering when this will ever get better. The spirit runs high, the hope never fades, and we will persevere. I know Dr. DiBiase believes this to be true and she focuses her mission to do just that! I hope you will support renewing her contract
