To the editor:

Thank you to the unnamed Warren veterinarian who refused to euthanize an abandoned dog brought to them by the Town of Tiverton Animal Control.

I read about this story at EastBayRI online and was just appalled that was the solution the Town of Tiverton decided upon for a dog who was abandoned and already clearly subject to significant trauma. It just seemed like a complete and utter failing of the system. Instead of trying to euthanize the dog, the town should be looking for whomever abandoned the dog in the first place to see what the issue is and make sure they don't have other animals in peril.
