Warren PD: ‘Strange bones’ and a loose seal on Market Street

Monday, March 14
DPW was alerted to pick up pieces of an air conditioning unit on the side of the road near Touisset Road and North Street at 10:22 a.m.

DPW reported a balloon got caught in the electrical wires on a utility pole on Water Street at 1:12 p.m. National Grid was advised.

A caller reported at 3:01 p.m. that a man was offering snacks to juveniles near the cemetery, who then left after he noticed other adults nearby. Upon being contacted by police, the man said he was offering the kids donuts that his friend was no longer able to pick up, and he was advised of the complaint.

Tuesday, March 15
“Strange bones” reported at 5:08 p.m. near a stream along Belcher Cove were identified as likely belonging to a deer.

Charles Abate, 36, of Warren, turned himself in on a warrant at 6:27 p.m. He was charged with disorderly conduct and was arraigned and released around 8:23 p.m.

Wednesday, March 16
A suspicious individual was transported back home after a report came in around 12:48 a.m. in the area of Schoolhouse Road and Kinnicutt Avenue.

A report of a stolen laptop on Mulberry Street was taken at 8:37 a.m. The laptop was retrieved from a neighbor later that morning, which solved the issue.

Brian Silvia, 33, of Warren, was picked up on a warrant at 9:08 a.m. and charged with three counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, third offense; violating a protective order, first offense; and disorderly conduct, third offense). He was transported to district court later that morning.

An injured fox was reported on Maple Road at 10:29 a.m.

A caller reported at 4:08 p.m. that they had witnessed a hit and run on a vehicle on Water Street, near the intersection of Miller Street.

A caller reported at 8:11 p.m. that they had been sexually harassed while at work on Market Street.

A verbal argument that ensued following a road rage incident on Metacom Avenue around 8:15 p.m. was reported by multiple people. Police dispersed the parties peacefully.

A seal was reported in the roadway along Market Street at 8:40 p.m. DEM was contacted and reported that nobody could go within 150 feet of the marine animal per federal law, and followed up with Mystic Aquarium and a wildlife refuge for further advice. At 9:00 p.m. the animal made it back to the water on its own.

Thursday, March 17
A package was reported stolen from Detroit Avenue at 8:58 a.m.

A rollover crash on Schoolhouse Road was reported at 5:53 p.m. It resulted in two being transported to Rhode Island Hospital and closed down the road for several hours.

Friday, March 18
A staff member of a Metacom Avenue business contacted police at 6:36 p.m. to report a concerning phone call they received from a man earlier that afternoon. An officer responded shortly afterwards to Child Street to serve a no trespass order.

Two men were dispersed from State Street around 9:56 p.m. after a camera observed them shining flashlights on a monument.

Saturday, March 19
Desiree Cidade, 31, of Warren, was arrested at 12:07 a.m. following an anonymous report of a domestic incident occurring on Child Street. She was charged with three counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, first offense; vandalism, first offense; and disorderly conduct, first offense). She was arraigned and released to the custody of a friend a short while later.

A man reported at 11:01 a.m. that watches had been stolen from his residence on Dyer Street.

An Amazon package was reported stolen from a porch on Cutler Street at 3:43 p.m.

Police looked into an incident on Asylum Road at 5:22 p.m. involving some juveniles and an older man. One of the juveniles said the man had yelled at them for playing loud music, while the man said the juveniles were hitting a building with sticks. Police advised the children to knock it off.

Sunday, March 20
RIDOT was notified of a large pothole in the area of Metacom Avenue and Seymour Street at 11:20 a.m.

Jeffrey Terranova, 61, of Providence, was arrested at 3:41 p.m. on Child Street following the report of a man going through a store’s dumpster. He was charged with a superior court warrant and was transported to the ACI later that evening.

A caller reported at 10:42 p.m. that a group of juveniles were hiding in the bushes near a church on Main Street. When police responded, the juveniles fled the area and evaded police.

Monday, March 21
A noisy neighbor listening to the radio too loud on Main Street was advised to quiet around 5:09 a.m.
