Warren police: Man charged with stealing car

Monday, Aug. 20

A Kickemuit Road woman called police to report getting into an argument with her son.

A Warren woman reported the theft of groceries. Since the incident occurred in Barrington, police directed her to authorities there.

A caller reported finding a gas can on the East Bay Bike Path. Turns out it belonged to a man cutting weeds along the path.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

Daniel Alves, 27, of New Bedford, was arrested on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant after police pulled him over on Metacom Avenue.

A Drysdale Street reported an issue with a neighbor.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

A woman reported yelling on Main Street just before 1 a.m. was just looking for her chihuahua.

Police dispersed a man from a residence on Market Street after a caller reported an argument there.

Police dispersed a man reported sleeping on a bench at Main and Washington streets just after 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 23

Raymond Joseph Mahoney, 35, of 680 Main St., second floor, was charged with obstructing an officer after police investigated a suspicious person at Main and Beach streets just after 2 a.m.

A caller from Pennsylvania Avenue called police after hearing a man and woman arguing.

Jason Jonathan Ledoux, 38, of 19 Birchswamp Road, was charged with violating a no contact order and domestic disorderly conduct, after a woman called police to report that Mr. Ledoux had threatened to assault her brother.

A resident of a group home on Main Street reported neglect by staff members

A Tyler Court man received a fraudulent check for a private sale and called police.

Walter F. Brown, 31, of Woonsocket, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct, after police were called about a domestic situation on Wood Street just before 8 p.m.

Police intervened after a woman called to report that her elderly sister was living in a condemned home on Denver Avenue. Police confirmed that the woman was there and reached out to the state elderly affairs hotline to assist her.

Friday, Aug. 24

A Metacom Avenue woman reported her car stolen.

A Main Street woman reported damage to her front window.

Hermenegildo Benitez, 41, of Pawtucket, was charged with second degree sexual assault.

A Union Street woman called police with suspicions that someone had syphoned gas from her car.

Police got a call after a motorist drove over a tire that had just fallen out of the back of a truck on Metacom Avenue. The motorist was uninjured and the car appeared to be undamaged.

Joseph Xavier Elam, 27, of 593 Main St., Apt. 3, was charged with felony receiving stolen goods after police recovered a stolen vehicle at Broad and Main streets.

Andrew V. Loras, 25, of Bristol, was charged with violating a no contact order.

Police got a complaint about a panhandler at Water and Miller streets.

A caller complained about a loud party on Church Street just before 10:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 25

A loud music call came in from Long Lane just after 4 p.m.

Christopher A. Cochrane, 48, of 700 Metacom Ave., Apt. 22B, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to stop at an accident, after an accident was reported on Metacom Avenue just after 5:30 p.m.

A caller complained about a disagreement with a staff member after complaining about the food at a Main Street restaurant.

A caller reported seeing a flare over the Kicky. Fire Chief James Sousa said it was likely fireworks. 

Luke A. Latessa, 22, of Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, refusing to take a chemical test, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after police pulled him over on Metacom Avenue at 8:25 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 26

Joshua Richard Bairos, 19, of Taunton, was charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor and possession of marijuana, one ounce or less, after pulled him over on Water Street at 2:07 a.m.

Police assisted a woman who called at 2:45 a.m. to report having trouble with her car on Metacom Avenue.

A Union Street resident complained that a neighbor was “constantly” running a generator. Police came down to check it out, but noted that the generator was not running.

A caller complained about a jet skier hotdogging on the Kickemuit River. The harbormaster was advised.

A Frank Court man complained about noisy neighbors just after 11 p.m.
