Barrington native Priscilla Dunphy, a standout player for the WPI women's basketball team, was recently selected to the NEWMAC (New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference) second team.
Dunphy ranked first overall in three-point field goal percentage at 41 percent and in conference games at 49 percent. She was in the top-10 in the conference in threes, minutes played and steals. She also led WPI in three-pointers per game and free throw percentage. Dunphy, who played her high school basketball at LaSalle Academy, was second on the WPI team in scoring this season and rebounding and third in steals.
"At the end of Saturday's NEWMAC semifinal, Dunphy was key with a layup, steal and a free throw to help lift third-seeded WPI to its second NEWMAC Women's Basketball Championship game in as many years," stated a recent press release.
Dunphy was also named to the WPI Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team and scored double-digits in 17 games this season.
The all conference voting was conducted by the sports information departments from the nine four-year schools in Worcester County, including Assumption and Holy Cross, as well as three members of the local media.
