PORTSMOUTH — Two people were arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in connection with the distribution of illegal narcotics in Portsmouth, according to police.

An investigation in February by members of the Portsmouth Police Department Narcotics Unit identified Tara Desilveira, 40, of 436 Sanford Road, Westport, and Paul Silva, 41, of 66 Rogers St., New Bedford, as the primary suspects, police said.

Officers pulled over a vehicle containing the pair at 12:43 p.m. on Feb. 8, as it entered the town line, police said.

“As a result of this investigation, the Portsmouth Police Department seized three grams of fentanyl, 11.5 grams of crack cocaine, and 18 Adderall pills along with $8,206” cash, police stated in a press release.

Desilveira was charged with four counts of possession with intent to deliver. Silva was charged with conspiracy and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

They were both scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in 2nd District Court in Newport, police said.
