Elderly resident later transported to a hospital

Posted

An alert Barrington police officer came to the assistance of a woman in need last week.

The officer was on routine patrol on Monday, Dec. 7, driving along Narragansett Avenue when he spotted a car parked in a lot at Haines Park with its door open and a woman's legs hanging out the door.

The officer checked the woman — she was in her 70s — and found that she was "conscious but not alert." The officer called for assistance from EMTs.

The woman, a Barrington resident, was later transported to an area hospital. Police believe the woman was suffering from a medical emergency.
