Mahir Salahuddin pitches complete game, strikes out 13

A first inning lead-off walk by Harrison Collins, followed by Mahir Salahuddin’s home run and a double by Luke Fluet provided all the offense the Barrington 12U Majors All Stars would need in a 2-1 win over Rumford on Monday night, June 24 at Sherwood Field.

Collins opened the inning with the walk and Salahuddin pushed the count to 3-2 before blasting a home run over the right field fence. Luke Fluet capped the offensive fireworks with a ripped double that hit the fence in right-centerfield. The throw to second base beat him to the bag, but Fluet hurdled the second baseman and the base and then reached back to tag the bag for the safe call.

Meanwhile, Salahuddin was lights-out on the mound for Barrington. He struck out 13 Rumford batters, allowed only three hits and no earned runs. The Rumford pitcher allowed the two first-inning hits to Barrington in the complete game effort.

Barrington will play at Pawtucket tonight, Tuesday, June 25 at 5:45.
