Barrington won the Ron Silva Little League Tournament in dominant fashion on Tuesday night, July 28.
The Barrington Little League team finished the tournament undefeated and beat Portsmouth 12-2 in the championship game, which was played at Sherwood Field.
Jaxon Sawyer shined on the mound for Barrington. The right-hander pitched four scoreless innings, scattering two hits while striking out nine and walking two.
Meanwhile, Barrington’s offense tallied 11 hits and 13 walks. Barrington opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning — Cole Capone singled to centerfield and drove in Lucas Hurley. Portsmouth tied the game in the top of the second, but Barrington took the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning. Wes Almeida, Hurley and Maxton Capone each roped singles and drove in runs. Barrington led 6-2 by the end of the third.
Cole Capone finished with two hits and two RBI, while Owen Coleman and Max Capone each had two hits, and Hurley, Maxton Capone, and Ethan Cancilliere each drove in two runs. Arrow Pierce-Sanchez showed impressive plate discipline by drawing three walks in the championship game.
