Arrest stems from incident that occurred in late June

Barrington Police arrested a Riverside resident after an alleged incident at a Barrington home.

Police charged Paul A. Fournier, 33, of Riverside, with simple assault or battery, willful trespass, refusal to relinquish telephone, vandalism/malicious injury to property, and larceny of a controlled substance.

The arrest stems from a June 24 incident, where Mr. Fournier had gone to a Barrington woman’s apartment and allegedly threw her against a wall and stole her prescription medication.

Police said Mr. Fournier and the victim had been hanging out previously and he later accused her of stealing marijuana from him. He then allegedly went to her apartment and an argument ensued.

After speaking with the alleged victim, Barrington police issued a warrant for Mr. Fournier. East Providence police later picked him up at his home.
