Barrington Police investigated a number of incidents last week:

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, a Quincy Adams Road resident called police about 11 p.m. to report that someone was trying to break into his home. He described the suspect as a man dressed in black. Police responded to the location but could not find the suspect. Police said the resident did not want to file a report or speak with responding officers. Police said there was no evidence of forced entry at the home. 

• On Friday, Dec. 15, a Barrington resident told police a girl was walking home from the bus stop in the area of College Lane and Middle Highway when a man approached her and asked if she was in high school. The girl told the man she went to the middle school. The man was described as being about 5-foot-7, having a mustache, and wearing a ripped sweatshirt.

• On Thursday, Dec. 14, Police responded to the Barrington Shaw’s Supermarket after a store employee called them and reported seeing a woman in the store who was wanted for felony shoplifting. Police said the store also has a no trespassing order against the woman. Police officers searched for the woman, who was spotted leaving the store in a green Jeep Wrangler, but could not locate her. She was seen driving toward Warren.  

• On Tuesday, Dec. 12, a Barrington man called 911 and told police someone driving past him had thrown ice from a drink cup at him. The man said the person was an elderly woman and had possibly yelled a hateful remark at him. The man did not offer a description of the vehicle. Police said it was possible the woman was dumping ice out the window of her vehicle and did not intend to throw it at the man. Police said the ice did not hit the man.

• On Tuesday, Dec. 12, a Charles Street resident told police that a package was mistakenly delivered to a neighbor’s home and now the neighbor will not give her the package. The resident told police she looked into her neighbor’s window and could clearly see the body spray that she had ordered. Police spoke to the neighbor, but that person denied the claim and said they would speak to their spouse about the situation when they got home.
