Barrington Police investigating break-in at Nayatt area house

Police: Suspect vehicle is gray Dodge Ram pickup truck

Barrington Police are investigating a break-in that occurred on Wednesday morning, Jan. 25.

Police said the break-in took place in the Nayatt Road area. Officials would not share specific information on the home’s location.

Police received a call a little after 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 25 — the homeowner said it appeared someone had broken into the home and they were concerned the suspect or suspects may still be in the house. Officers responded to the scene and checked the home, but the suspects were gone.

Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia said a safe was stolen from the home, and the safe held an urn that contained a deceased child’s remains.

Police identified a vehicle driven by the suspect — it is a gray-colored Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Chief Correia said there was evidence of forced entry at the house. He added that police do not believe the break-in was targeted.

“We’re looking to determine if this (break-in) is related to house breaks we’ve had (in town) in the last six months,” Chief Correia said.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call police at 401-437-3935.
