Police: Mysterious hole dug in resident's yard

Posted

Barrington Police responded to a variety of calls last week, including one that involved teenagers riding an office chair into traffic on Maple Avenue.

On Wednesday, May 8, Barrington Police officers responded to a Maple Avenue residence for a report of multiple juveniles using an office chair to roll down a driveway and into the roadway. A neighbor told police that they told the kids to stop, so then the teens started using a scooter to roll into the roadway. Police said the juveniles had left the area by the time they arrived. A resident also told police one of the kids had her daughter’s speaker.

On Thursday, May 9, a Barrington resident told police that while he and his wife were away, someone came into their yard and dug a hole. The resident told police that whoever dug the hole left the shovel on his property. Police are still investigating.

On Thursday night, police officers were conducting an after-hours check of Veterans Park when they spotted a truck parked near the water. Police were familiar with the individuals inside the vehicle. Police said they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and noticed that the occupants appeared to be intoxicated. Police told the occupants that they were being dispersed from the park. A family member responded to the park and picked up the two men.

On Friday, May 10, a Barrington resident told Barrington Police she was walking along Massasoit Avenue when her dog entered a home’s front yard and brushed up against a wire fence. The dog yelped out in pain because the fence is electrified, the resident said. The dog was not injured, the resident told police, but she believes that the property owner should put up signs warning others of the electric fence.
