Barrington Police responded to separate drug-related incidents on Monday, Dec. 19.
At about 9:40 a.m., Barrington school officials reached out to police regarding a middle school student who appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
Police said the 13-year-old boy admitted to smoking marijuana at his home before going to school that day. Police notified DCFY regarding the incident. Police later released the boy to his parents, notifying them of the situation.
At about 11 a.m., police stopped by the high school for a separate incident. An administrator at the school allegedly found a 17-year-old Barrington boy in possession of a vape pen containing THC. Police said the administrator was conducting a routine check of the restrooms and discovered the teenager with the vape pen.
Police charged the boy with possession of a schedule 1 to 5 controlled substance-first offense.
