Question: If elected to the Barrington School Committee, what would be your top priority — what would be the one item you would want to add to your first School Committee meeting agenda?

Karen Rasnick (I) — “I would begin with getting to know the new superintendent and assistant superintendent by inviting them to share their goals and vision for Barrington Public Schools. These would include academics, new school construction, fiscal responsibility, school safety, and maintaining positive teacher morale, as having happy teachers is crucial to student success.”

Tim McNamara (D) — “I don’t have a pre-set agenda. I’m running to create a more efficient, effective and transparent committee that serves community needs. The initiatives already in place require focus – construction, fields, relationship with the Town Council. My focus will be on ensuring these projects align with the community’s needs and desires.”

Lisa Nelson (D) — “Adding voices to school construction planning; specifically, public health and childhood development professionals. Children aren’t little adults. The insights from these professionals — such as how senses change as children age — will help make sure our building designs are developmentally appropriate. We’re spending a lot of money. Let’s get it right.”

Liz Singh (I) — “My top priority is to keep moving progress forward with accountability and transparency in every decision. I’m committed to maintaining financial responsibility during school renovations and construction, while prioritizing student safety and promoting academic excellence. Engaging with the community and listening to their concerns will be key throughout this process.”

Megan Douglas (D) — “We have accomplished so much — and weathered some incredible challenges! — in my 8 years on the School Committee. But for years, our students’ have reported a remarkably low sense of belonging, especially at BHS. It’s time to have an inclusive community-wide conversation with our minds open to creative solutions for all students.”
