Barrington Shopping Center welcomes Plant City

Barrington's newest restaurant is a plant-based eatery

There is a new restaurant in the Barrington Shopping Center.

Plant City, a plant-based eatery, opened its doors to customers on Wednesday, July 3. Plant City offers breakfast favorites, salads and sandwiches, pizzas and pastas, tacos, burgers, baked goods, and more — all of it plant-based. Plant City also offers a curated marketplace.

Restaurant founder and longtime Barrington resident Kim Anderson said Plant City is excited to become part of the East Bay community.

“We’re passionate about providing our best-selling and favorite plant-based options while upholding sustainability,” Anderson said. “Plant City uses locally sourced ingredients and vendors and compostable materials in an effort to make a positive impact on both our patrons and the planet.”

She said Plant City’s location next to the East Bay Bike Path is ideal.

Joseph R. Paolino, Jr. is managing partner of Paolino Properties, which owns the Barrington Shopping Center.

“With the introduction of Plant City, Compass, and Ivy Rehab, we are not only bringing new tenants to the center, but also creating a vibrant community hub where innovation, wellness, and convenience converge,” Paolino Jr. said. “These additions highlight our commitment to enhancing the Barrington Shopping Center experience.”

The Barrington Shopping Center continues to evolve with the recent completion of new storefronts including Starbucks, which now features a drive-through window. Other recent additions include Compass, an innovative residential real estate firm, and Ivy Rehab, a highly-regarded outpatient therapy facility.

Donna M. Paolino Coia, the co-owner of Paolino Properties, shared rave reviews for Plant City.

“As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I’m personally excited to welcome Plant City to the center,” said Paolino Coia. “This addition not only enriches the available dining options, but also reflects our family’s commitment to partnering with diverse, forward-thinking businesses that resonate with the values of the Barrington community.”

Established in the 1960s, the Barrington Shopping Center has undergone expansions and upgrades over the years, all while remaining under the ownership of the Paolino family. In recent years, the company has strategically repositioned the center’s basic service shops to create a more cohesive and convenient shopping experience.

“This approach reflects the family’s commitment to ensuring the center remains the premier shopping destination in town,” stated a press release from Paolino Properties.
