The Barrington High School girls cross country team had three runners finish in the top four spots, but it was not quite enough as the Eagles lost to LaSalle, 30-29 (low score wins) in the dual meet opener on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Barrington rebounded for lopsided wins over East Providence, 15-50, and Bay View, 15-50.
Barrington High School sophomore Carly Gill won the race with a time of 19:05. Teammate Evelyn Lefort finished second overall with a time of 19:26, and BHS freshman standout Sarah Clegg was fourth with a time of 20:04.
LaSalle, however, placed seven runners in the top-10 spots and nine in the top-12.
Barrington’s Charlotte Ford finished in 13th place overall, clocking a time of 21:04, while Lizzy Van Hull was 14th at 21:05.
The Eagles placed runners in spots 18 through 22. Estelle Mentzer finished 18th overall with a time of 21:43, Genevieve Frander was 19th with a time of 22:02, and Scarlett Wasinowicz finished 20th with a time of 22:15. Elsa Mello finished in 21st place with a time of 22:36, and Jordan Bublitz was 22nd with a time of 22:56.
The race was held at Barrington High School.
