The Barrington Lions Club held a community Easter egg hunt at Latham Park earlier this month.
Nearly 300 families attended the special event — children of all ages brought their Easter baskets and, after getting the signal, raced around the field collecting brightly colored eggs.
Following the hunt, children and adults alike had their faces painted, entered a raffle, and had their photo taken with the Easter Bunny who arrived at the park in a firetruck thanks to the Barrington Fire Department.
Hosted by the Barrington Lions Club and co-sponsored by the Barrington Recreation Department, the Easter egg hunt was a service project to benefit families in Barrington and neighboring communities. Participation was free to the public with a food donation.
By the end of the day, more than 500 pounds of food had been collected. The food was donated to Tap-In (Touch A Person In Need), which provides food, clothes, furniture, transport, and information for the residents of the East Bay.
Earth Day cleanup
On Saturday, April 22, the Barrington Lions Club will host an Earth Day clean-up event at Police Park Cove from 10 a.m. to noon. The Lions Club will also host the second annual scavenger hunt during the Barrington Street Fair on June 11, from 9 to 11 a.m.
