Want to learn a little bit more about the people running for local elected offices? There will be a candidate forum double-header on Monday night, Sept. 28, in the Barrington Library auditorium.

In the opener, the candidates for the RI House of Representatives District 67 seat will face off. Nicole Jellinek, a Democrat, and Joseph DePasquale, an Independent, will answer questions submitted by the public. The District 67 forum kicks off at 6 p.m.

In the second forum of the double-header, the candidates running for Barrington Town Council will take the stage. There are four candidates vying for two seats: Democrats Braxton Cloutier and Jessica Martin, and Independent candidates Anthony Arico and Neile Hartman. The council forum will begin at 7:15 p.m.

There will be a meet and greet prior to the start of the two forums; it will be held at 5:30 p.m.

The League of Women Voters in Rhode Island and East Bay Media Group, the parent company of the Barrington Times, are sponsoring the event.

Submit your questions

The public is encouraged to submit questions for either or both of the forums. The League of Women Voters in Rhode Island screens for conciseness and issue orientation.

The questions should not be directed to a specific candidate. The moderator selects the questions that will be asked. Each candidate answers the same question and adheres to the same time limits.

Please email your questions to nekkennedy@yahoo.com with the subject line Forum Question for (Rep 67) or (Town Council). Cards will be available at each forum for anyone in attendance to write a question for submission.
