The Barrington High School field hockey team improved to 4-3 in the division and 6-3 overall after defeating North Kingstown 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Shelby Gasbarro was a force for the Eagles — the senior captain scored one goal and assisted on two others. Mackenzie Plourde and Abby Griffin also stepped up to play key roles for Barrington — Mackenzie and Abby each scored goals in the victory.

Defensively, senior captain Alandra Vicioso, juniors Clare Capozza and Reese Mancini, and sophomore Daisy Moscrop limited the Skippers’ scoring chances.

In the JV game, Barrington powered past North Kingstown 2-0. Sydney Plourde and Ella Mackley both played well for Barrington, as did BHS freshmen Molly O’Connell and Maggie Porter, who each scored goals. Lucy LoVerme had an assist in the victory. Freshman goalie Scarlett Burke finished the game with eight saves.

Barrington’s varsity is ranked third in the Division I standings behind LaSalle and Moses Brown. The Eagles are scheduled to play at East Greenwich on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m.
