The rain held off just long enough for the 18th running of the Nayatt 5K.

The road race serves as a key fund-raiser for the Nayatt School PTO. This year’s races — there was a 1-mile run and a 5K — featured more than 650 participants.

The husband and wife team of William Sanders and Sybil Sanders captured the top spots for men and women in the 5K. William crossed the finish line with a time of 16:22, while Sybil finished at 19:06.

In the 1-mile fun run, Barrington’s Aewyn Turner, age 12, was the top female finisher with a time of 7:17. Barrington’s Grant Farrell, age 12, was the top male finisher with a time of 6:27.

In addition to the 1-mile and 5K races, the event also features 50-yard races for kids. The races are split up by age.
