Joseph E. Blount, 84, formerly of Prospect Street, Barrington, died peacefully on Feb. 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Karen V. (Frick) Blount.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Joseph F. and Hilda I.(Wilkinson) Blount, he lived in Barrington for 50 years and Rumford for the past several years.
Mr. Blount was a co-owner of Blount Bennett Architects of East Providence for 30 years before retiring in 2016.
Joseph received a Bachelor of Science Degree from RISD Class of 1960.
Joseph was a Unites States veteran serving in the Naval Reserves.
Mr. Blount was a communicant of St. Luke Church, where he was the architect of the new church built in 2005. He was a member of the parish council, President of the parish’s Home and School Association and member of the parish’s Knight of Columbus. He also was a member of the Town of Barrington Planning Board for 10 years.
Joseph was Chairman of The Skating Club of Boston for the past year, where he previously was the Club President for the past 21 years.
Mr. Blount enjoyed spending time with his loving grandsons.
Joe was a man of purpose, honesty, sincere kindness, good humor, unfailing integrity and had a steadfast vision.
Besides his wife of sixty years, he is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Blount and her husband Michael M. Murphy of Beverly, Mass., and Jennifer A. Medico of Pembroke, Mass.; two grandchildren, Robert L. Medico III and Joseph E. Medico, both of Pembroke, Mass.; two sisters, Elizabeth I. Brennan of Lincoln and Hilda M. Lyon of Cumberland; a brother, Thomas J. Blount of Coventry, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert F. Blount.
His funeral was held on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington.
