Letter: Can Barrington fly a different flag?

The Barrington Town Council has decided not to repeat the flying of a Black Lives Matter organization flag that was flown at the town hall during Feb. 2021 to 'honor' Black History Month. Thank you for that.

I have read that they are flying a newly created banner stating that "Barrington Believes Black Lives Matter" although I haven't yet driven by the flag and seen it for myself.

BLM was created by Marxists, promotes CRT in the classroom, supports the dissolution of the nuclear family, and participated in the 2020 riots and looting season. I respectfully submit to the town council that they consider displaying a message without any form of BLM in it; the organization’s ideals are not shared by a substantial number of black citizens and may not be considered an 'honor' to black heritage.

A group of local citizens, the Bristol County Concerned Citizens alliance, protested this action by the council in 2021 after the Barrington Town Council originally put up the BLM flag under Old Glory in February of that year. The BCCC, created a tasteful, attractive, more inclusive flag that they are willing to donate to the town for display during February or any other time.

To find out more about this worthy organization and to view the “Every Black Life Matters" banner, see the Bristol County Concerned Citizens Facebook page or email Bristol.county.cc@gmail.com. for more information. While my location is stated below as 'East Providence', I am a native Barringtonian who visits often and cares about my hometown. Thank you, council, for also caring about our town.
