Letter: District 67 candidate was mistaken in his response

In regards to the last published Question of the Week, I want to point out that House District 67 candidate Joseph DePasquale was mistaken when he stated that “RIGL 31-3-2.2 prohibits anyone under the age of 16 years old from operating an electric motorized scooter or bicycle on public ways.” In fact, RIGL 31-3-2.2 makes no mention of electric scooters nor public ways. This lack of regulation is one of the many reasons that I will be filing comprehensive legislation in 2027 to address micromobility devices like e-scooters and e-bikes.
