Barrington Police investigated two separate marijuana possession cases last week.

Police are expected to charge a 13-year-old Barrington boy with possession of a schedule 1 to 5 controlled substance-first offense following a recent investigation. Police said the boy was found in possession of two vape pens that appeared to have marijuana in them on Monday, Nov. 7. Police sent the pens to the state lab and if the results come back positive for marijuana, the boy will be charged.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, Barrington Police charged a 16-year-old boy from East Providence with possession of one ounce of marijuana or less-child under 17 years old, following a traffic stop on the Wampanoag Trail at about 10:40 p.m. Police ordered the vehicle over to the side of the road after it was spotted exceeding the speed limit. Upon approaching the vehicle, an officer could allegedly smell the odor of marijuana. A subsequent search revealed that the male passenger in the vehicle had marijuana chocolate bars and other edible marijuana, police said. The teenager also allegedly told police he had been smoking marijuana inside the vehicle. Police charged the teenager. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old Barrington girl, was not charged.
