This week's Barrington Police report details multiple incidents where residents, some of them elderly, were targeted for scams:

Tuesday, Aug. 30: A Knapton Street resident called police to report an attempted scam. The resident said someone had called and claimed to be her grandson, but she quickly realized the call was bogus and hung up the phone. 

Wednesday, Aug. 31: A Talcott Street resident reported an attempted scam call. The resident hung up the phone before sharing any information. 

Wednesday, Aug. 31: A Leslie Avenue resident reported an attempted phone scam. The resident said someone called claiming to be her grandson. The resident said she knew the caller was not her grandson, so she hung up immediately.

Wednesday, Aug. 31: A Hazelton Road resident told police someone had used her personal information to open up fraudulent accounts. 

Wednesday, Aug. 31: A Maple Avenue resident stopped into the station to report that someone had deposited a fraudulent check in his account and later made withdrawals from his account. 

Thursday, Sept. 1: An Acre Avenue resident told police she received a call from someone claiming that her Amazon account had been compromised. The call was bogus and the woman hung up the phone.

Thursday, Sept. 1: A Maple Avenue resident told police he was nearly scammed into wiring money to someone. The transfer was stopped.
