Police: Dead dog washes up on Barrington beach
Similar incident occurred a few weeks ago in Barrington
A person walking along a beach in Barrington called police on Monday, March 11, to report that a dead dog had washed up along the shore.
Police said the dog appeared to have been dead for quite some time. The dog was found on a section of shoreline near the Rhode Island Country Club property.
Police checked to see if anyone had reported a missing dog in Barrington or any nearby community. A dog had been reported missing in Warwick, police said.
Police confirmed that this was the second dead dog to wash up on a Barrington beach in the last few weeks. On Wednesday, Feb. 28, a dead dog washed up on the shore at Willow Way in Barrington.
Police described the dog as a small, white cockapoo-type dog. Police were going to check and see if the dog had a microchip in it. Police said there have not been any recent reports of dogs missing in Barrington or East Providence.
