Police: Man spotted taking photos of teenage girls at Barrington Beach

Police may issue no trespass order to the man

Barrington Police responded to Barrington Beach on Monday, May 13, after a person called the station to report that an older man was taking photographs of teenage girls.

Police spoke to a witness who said she saw the man taking photos of the girls at the beach. The witness told police that when the man noticed her watching him, he tried to hide his camera. The witness told the man she was calling police — that was when the man left the beach on foot.

Police said the teenage girls — all three were from Seekonk, Mass. — confronted the man and told him to stop taking photos of them. The man initially denied doing so. The girls then told the man to delete the photos, which he did, police said.

Police later located the man — he is a 60-year-old Barrington resident. Police said they are trying to determine if they can issue the man a no trespass order for the town beach.

Police said the man was not in violation of a voyeurism law, but his actions were “obviously concerning.”
