Six firms bid on Barrington High School Victory Field project

Bids for design work range from $187,620 to $476,760

The Barrington School Committee is expected to review the bids from six companies who are interested in designing the new Victory Field athletic complex. 

The item is listed on the agenda for the meeting tonight, Oct. 10. 

The six companies that bid on the work are BL Companies New England, Inc., CHA Solutions, Gale Associates, Inc., Pare Corporation, Tecton Associates, and Nesra Engineering, LLC. 

Pare Corporation submitted the highest bid at $476,760, while Gale Associates, Inc. submitted the lowest bid at $187,620.

The Barrington School Committee recently voted 5-0 to renovate the Victory Field athletic complex — the work will include the construction of a new multi-use synthetic turf field and a new track oval. 

Each of the interested design firms submitted documents listing their qualifications and experience. 

Following is a brief summary of the firms and the related work experience:

• Nesra Engineering: Taunton High School (Mass.) softball renovation project, Taunton High School (Mass.) Track and Field replacement, Burlington (Mass.) Track and Field replacement, Winchester (Mass.) Community Park Sports Complex

• BL Companies New England, Inc.: Eldredge Park Field Improvements and Basketball Court (East Greenwich), Portsmouth (NH) High School Tennis Courts, Francis Walsh Intermediate School Athletic Field Improvements (Branford, Conn.), Wintergreen School Athletic Field Improvements (Hamden, Conn.), East Hartford (Conn.) High School Tennis Courts

• Gale Associates, Inc.: Greater Lowell (Mass.) Technical High School athletic facility reconstruction, Hull (Mass.) High School athletic campus renovation, Norton (Mass.) Public Schools high school athletic complex master plan, design and consulting services, Westford (Mass.) Academy athletic campus improvements, Bishop Feehan (Mass.) High School athletic facilities renovations, Concord-Carlisle (Mass.) High School Patriot Park renovations, Algonquin Regional (Northborough, Mass.) High School athletic campus improvements

• CHA Solutions: Danbury (Conn.) Municipal Stadium, Kingswood-Oxford School (West Hartford, Conn.) athletic campus renovation, The Hotchkiss School (Conn.) athletic campus renovation, Coginchaug Regional High School (Conn.) athletic campus renovation, Martha’s Vineyard (Mass.) athletic campus renovation, Wesleyan University (Conn). athletic campus renovation, Dobyns-Bennett (Tenn.)
